Safety checks at School Regattas
Safety in Rowing Tasmania is important to us. Rowers, coaches, officials, volunteers ... we all have a role to play in keeping safe on and off the water at regattas and when training.
Volunteers will undertake boat safety checks in the boat park at Regattas - including School Regattas - before crews go on the water. Checks include correctly attached bow balls, correct height heel ties, quick release shoe ties and intact hatch covers to ensure they are in line with safety requirements.
Please ensure these comply BEFORE heading to the ways.
If you are not sure what the requirements are then ask your coach, director of rowing or a BRO for help.

Rowing Tasmania has other informative safety documents and videos on our website. Please take the time to make yourself familiar with them here.
Become a regatta volunteer - there is a role for you!
A session or two; a day or two - whatever the time you can offer, Rowing Tasmania and our shrinking band of BROs and regatta volunteers need your assistance to help us continue to run successful regattas for our club and school rowers.
Put your hand up to drive an umpire boat, dispense bow numbers, carry out safety checks, join the team
at the finish tower, and more ... on or off the water,
there is a role waiting for you.
You may even enjoy volunteering at our regattas so much you take the extra step and choose to become
a Boat Race Official.

Camping at Lake Barrington
Caravans and tents are a big part of the "ritual" of a regatta weekend at Lake Barrington.
But there are a few things of which you need to be aware:
- Caravans can be left onsite from Schools 1, Club Regatta 3 and Club Regatta 4 at the owners' risk
- No tents are to be left onsite during this period
- All caravans must be offsite by the Sunday night of Club Regatta 4 at the latest
- When setting up your van/tents please be mindful of not taking up extra space as camping space is limited
- THERE IS TO BE NO GREY WATER DISCHARGED ON TO THE GROUND as the site is a Parks and Wildlife Nature Reserve.
