Australian Masters Rowing Champs - and that's a wrap!

Great conditions, great racing, great regatta - the 2024 Bont Rowing Australian Masters Rowing Championships at Lake Barrington had it all!

Tasmania's Masters athletes bagged a swag of medals from 199 events across the four days (May 8-11) of the regatta and our State crews claimed medals in four of the five Interstate races in which we entered crews:

Gold: Men's Pr3 1X (Michael Taylor) and ISM4x (Michael Wilson, Mark Bonham, Patrick Bird, Deon Birtwistle);

Bronze: ISW4x (Sandra Wilson, Alison Kirkwood, Jane Hilliard, Sabrina Sonda) and ISM8+ (James Cowley, Jonathon Pitt, Kim Morgan, David Fisher, Chris Fox, Aaron Midgley, Phil Hutton, Tom Wilcox, cox: Georgina Rumbel).

The best-performing Tasmanian club on the event's Medals Table was North Esk - 7th of the 84 clubs competing.

Three Tasmanian clubs finished in the top 20 of the Club Point Score - North Esk, 3rd; Lindisfarne 9th; and, Buckingham 14th.

In the Individual Point Score (top 20) results, Michael Wilson was 4th with 125.25 points, Robert Wrigley 5th (123.25), Tom Wilcox 13th (108.75) and Sam Casey 16th (107).

Rowing Tasmania congratulates all our affiliated Clubs on their performances and would also like to thank the many volunteers and officials who worked tirelessly before, during and after the event to help make AMRC2024 such a success.

The next 10 months will be busy as we work our way up to next year's Australian Rowing Championships at Lake Barrington from March 24-30. We hope to see you there!
