Scotch Oakburn College Director of Rowing position vacant

Scotch Oakburn College has a long and proud history in rowing in Tasmania and nationally. To assist and lead the boat club to continue this tradition the College has two exciting roles within the rowing program: Director of Rowing, and Head Coach (Junior) – see position descriptions attached or visit the College’s website. Both roles are for a three (3) year/season tenure finishing in June 2025 and may be applied for separately or as a combined role, depending on the experience and qualifications of the individual.
DIRECTOR of ROWING
Scotch Oakburn College have an opportunity for an experienced sports administrator to join our Rowing community as the Director of Rowing for the 2022-2025 rowing seasons. This is a part-time position commencing in Term 3, 2022. Hours of work will vary throughout the rowing season and will include early mornings plus some weekend work.
The Director of Rowing will manage the College’s rowing program, which includes regular training and interschool competition during the rowing season, ensuring the program provides an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for all students who have chosen the sport, irrespective of their ability.
Selection Criteria:
1. Proven ability as an effective administrator – a sporting context is preferable but not essential.
2. Ability to provide dynamic and pro-active leadership in an educational environment.
3. Demonstrated high level of organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Ability to lead and positively contribute to the College’s rowing program.
5. Encouraging teamwork and commitment to the College’s rowing program.
6. Demonstrated commitment to personal professional learning.
7. Qualifications for coaching are preferable but not essential.
8. Rowing specific knowledge is desirable, but not essential.
9. Current HLTAID012 First Aid qualification (Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting).
