The Board of Rowing Tasmania is pleased to announce the members of the newly formed Schools Commission.

“On behalf of the Board, I convey our thanks and congratulate each member on their appointment,” Rowing Tasmania Board Chairperson, Tina Maher, said.

“We thank them for their interest in working with the Board to progress and drive the success of school rowing and look forward to working with them.”

The seven appointed members of the Schools Commission are:

  • Emma Johnson, South SATIS co-ordinator and Head of the River organiser
  • Mark Clemens, Mersey Rowing Club treasurer
  • Marcel Brown, Assistant Principal Don College and Mersey Rowing Club member
  • Claire Bensemann, St Michael’s Collegiate Rowing Coordinator
  • Jane Brooks, Hobart City High School Rowing Coordinator (works closely with New Norfolk Rowing Club)
  • Andrew Pinelli, St Mary’s College Secondary Teacher and Rowing Coordinator
  • Chris Symons, Tamar Rowing Club

The Commission will elect a chairperson who will be given the opportunity each month to meet with the Board and raise issues of interest and to recommend actions for consideration.

Ms Maher said the Board was confident that Principals, Heads of Sport, Directors of Rowing and the Presidents of clubs supporting school rowing, along with the broader rowing community, would cooperate with the Commission and provide input to assist them in their deliberations for the future of schools rowing.
