Boathouse Manager JOB TITLE: BOATHOUSE MANAGER
REPORTS TO: Director of Rowing
JOB SUMMARY: The Boathouse Manager will be responsible for the overall care and management of the New Town Bay Rowing Centre Boatshed and rowing equipment.
The Boathouse Manager will provide support to the Director of Rowing in all boathouse operations and competition logistics.
Duties and Responsibilities The Boathouse Manager will be expected to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Maintenance of the Boathouse The Boathouse Manager will be responsible for minor maintenance tasks and the cleanliness of the boatshed. Maintenance issues should be communicated to the Director of Rowing and Business Manager. Specific tasks required to be completed on a regular basis include: • Cleaning of toilets and shower facilities • Washing of shed floors • Shed maintenance – including roller door maintenance, replacing light globes • Washing of boat launch ways • Rubbish clean up and removal – inside shed and from areas around shed • Ensuring a pest control programme is in place for the shed • Maintaining adequate stocks of cleaning products and items such as toilet paper and hand towels
2. Maintenance of Equipment, Boats and Trailers The Boathouse Manager will ensure that all equipment is kept in good order and will liaise with the Directors of Rowing on the condition of equipment/boats, in particular all issues relating to repair and maintenance requirements.
3. Motorboats The Boathouse Manager will oversee all matters pertaining the running of the motorboats. This will include regularly checking all safety equipment on motorboats in accordance with MAST requirements and organising the service of the boats.
4. Fuel The Boathouse Manager will order all fuel and oils for the motorboats. The Boathouse Manager will also ensure that motorboats have enough fuel for the College’s weekly training schedule.
5. Trailers The Boathouse Manager will be responsible for the safety and maintenance of all boat trailers. The Boathouse Manager will oversee the supervision of the loading and unloading of the trailers before and after Regattas.
6. Rowing Boats The Boathouse Manager will be responsible for the safety and maintenance of all rowing boats. The Boathouse Manager will repair rowing boats as required during the season and will maintain the fleet in good order. At the commencement of each season the Boathouse Manager will service all rowing boats.
7. First Aid The Boathouse Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the shed has appropriate first aid facilities and equipment, including first aid kits in motorboats. It is expected that the Boathouse Manager will have as a minimum a current Level 2 First Aid certificate and an up-to-date CPR qualification.
8. Regattas The Boathouse Manager will work closely with the Director of Rowing to provide support to the logistical requirements for all regattas, training camps and competitions. The Boathouse Manager will organise any motorboats that may be required for Regattas, equipment and tools required for the regatta, and the transportation of boats. The Boathouse Manager will attend all regattas to ensure all equipment is in good order and is fully accounted for before, during and after each regatta. Times of work at the regatta will be negotiated with the Directors of Rowing.
9. End of Season Maintenance At the end of the season the Boathouse Manager will undertake maintenance including the stripping down and cleaning of all parts of the boats as well as the repair and replacement of parts.
10. Auditing of Equipment The Boathouse Manager will, with assistance from the Directors of Rowing maintain an up-to-date audit of the condition of all equipment. This audit will be made available to the Club Committee, Principals and Directors of Sport on an annual basis.
Support Staff The Boathouse Manager will be fully supported by a range of personnel, including: • Principals, • Directors of Sport • Directors of Rowing • Property Managers • Business Managers • Coaching Directors • Other Coaches • President and Committee of the Rowing Support Groups
Remuneration Through negotiation with the Principals the position will be remunerated in accordance with the provisions of the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2015 (TCESEA 2015) Tenure The Boathouse Manager is a part-time Limited tenure position for the 2021/2022 Rowing Season. A performance appraisal process relating to the key selection criteria for the position will be undertaken with the Directors of Rowing at the conclusion of the season.
Key Selection Criteria The Key Selection Criteria that will be used to select the Boathouse Manager are:
1. Demonstrated understanding and respect for the Catholic educational philosophy of the Colleges.
2. Experience in maintaining equipment and facilities required for the successful operation of a successful rowing programme.
3. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of support staff for a rowing programme.
