Rowing Tasmania is a dynamic and vibrant organisation coordinating the delivery, participation and growth of rowing in Tasmania.
In particular the Board is working to achieve significant gains in participation growth and participation satisfaction as well as ensuring the provision of quality services and products delivered in safe and welcoming environments.
Rowing Tasmania is seeking directors with experience in community sport and participation as well as facilities and infrastructure development.
Each Director has full voting rights and will:
· Discharge duties as a Director of the Association in accordance with the Rowing Tasmania Constitution, our Governance Policies and the Tasmanian Associations Incorporations Act 1964
· Make a commitment to work for the greater good of Rowing Tasmania
· Have knowledge, expertise and influence relevant to Rowing Tasmania’s affairs
· Regularly attend Board meetings and important related meetings
· Make a serious commitment to participate actively in Board or committee work
· Volunteer for and willingly accept projects and committee roles and complete them thoroughly and on time
· Stay informed about Board matters, prepare themselves well for meetings and reviews and comments on minutes and reports
· Devote sufficient time to become familiar with Rowing Tasmania’s affairs and the wider environment within which it operates
· Get to know other Board members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus
· Be an active participant in the Board’s annual evaluation and planning efforts
· May sit on committees as required/directed by and report to the Board on the activities of said committee/s
· Maintain or acquire a Working with Vulnerable People (children) registration in Tasmania – volunteer category LINK:
The successful Director will have a genuine interest in or willing to learn about rowing and all the disciplines that are covered under Rowing Australia.
As Rowing Tasmania is operating under a new Constitution (August 2019) please note:
Section 14.3 Directors Qualifications
(a) A person who holds an Official Position is not eligible to be elected as a Director. For the avoidance of doubt if a person who holds an Official Position nominates to be considered for election as a Director and is elected as a Director that person cannot take office as a Director until they have resigned from the Official Position. A copy of such resignation must be received by the Executive Officer within 48 hours of the General Meeting at which the person is elected.
