Position- Catering Manager- Rowing Tasmania

 

The Catering Manager (CM) will report to the Rowing Tasmania’s Executive-Officer, the President and the Board of Rowing Tasmania.

The Catering Manager is responsible for the running of The Easy Oar Café, providing food services at regattas, and has the option of catering for private events at Lake Barrington.

Responsibilities and Duties

 

The CM is responsible for:

  • organising the staffing roster each season at The Easy Oar Café.  This involves liaising with all rowing clubs and school rowing groups, sorting out a roster and making sure that training , staffing and equipment is appropriate.

 

  • providing salads, meat and breakfast food for the Boat Race Officials and delivering it to the Rangers Building at the appropriate times (Friday and Saturday evenings).

 

  • providing lunches for the Boat Race Officials and the Scout Boat Holders each day of regatta events.

 

  • liaising with the Coordinator of School Regattas in regard to catering requirements for lunches, etc.

 

  • the ordering and receipt of stock for regattas. The CM oversees a food preparation plan to provide food at appropriate times for breakfast, lunch, an evening BBQ and incidental daily sales of food and beverages.

 

  • checking accounts and liaising with the Rowing Tasmania Finance Department to ensure accounts are paid.

 

  • setting up a continental breakfast at The Lake Barrington Lodge & Davies Bay Lodge for guests on Friday and Saturday evening.  (The cleaning and packing up of breakfast is the role of the attendant)

 

  • ensuring that there is sufficient stock for regattas and that stock rotation occurs.

 

  • cleaning of The Easy Oar Café at the end of each regatta. This includes the regular cleaning of fridges, freezers, etc (linen used is cleaned by the attendant).

 

  • ensuring that those staffing the Café have an understanding of Food Safety and Hygiene.

 

  • costing food products appropriately.

 

 

  • providing a written report to the Board at the conclusion of the season

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Experience in food preparation and stock ordering is essential.
  • A sense of humor.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability are paramount.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • A barista Certification would be desirable, but not essential as training can take place once appointed.
  • The successful applicant would need to have good fitness, and have an understanding of good lifting practices as much of the stock is heavy.
  • Working with Vulnerable People Certificate (employment level) required.
  • Need to be computer literate as the ordering of stock and communication to clubs and schools is carried out primarily by email.
  • Have an understanding of food and nutrition that is required by both athletes and the general public.
  • A First Aid certificate would be desirable but not essential.
  • An ABN is required.

 

Remuneration

  • Remuneration is by a negotiated contract. This is payable at the end of the Rowing Season upon receipt by the Finance Department of an account for services.
