Please be a considerate camper

Published Mon 10 Feb 2025

Camping is permitted in the designated camping areas at LBIRC for School and Club regattas.

There are a few things you need to be aware of for safety reasons and for the comfort of all camping area users.

  • When setting up your van/tents please be mindful of not taking up more space than is reasonably required for your site. Camping space is limited, so keep your camping footprint to a minimum. You're here for only a night or two, not an extended holiday.
  • Please ensure proper chocks are used for trailer/caravan wheels - abandoned rocks have caused significant damage to RT's mower.
  • Any school-age rowers camping at the lake should be near to and under the effective control of a parent/guardian.
  • The Swag Only Area is open to all Schools and Clubs. This is a safer space where cars/caravans are not allowed to enter. School rowers using this space will need adult supervision. This area is set up NE of the Kentish Boatshed and has been partitioned off.
  • Safety of campers is paramount. Vehicles should be parked AWAY from the campsite for the safety of tent and swag occupants in particular, and should be parked horizontal to the slope throughout the camping area.
  • There is to be no camping (including swags) on the Boat Park road or in the Boat Park.
  • Campers should arrive at the site well before 10pm to ensure they do not break the curfew (10pm) and therefore disturb other camping guests.
  • THERE IS TO BE NO GREY WATER DISCHARGED ON TO THE GROUND as the site is a Parks and Wildlife Nature Reserve. We still have too many campers ignoring this rule.
  • Shower and toilet facilities at Barrington Lodge and Davies Bay Lodge (facilities under deck area) are not available to campers.
  • Generators are not permitted.
  • Wood fires are banned. This includes contained fire pots.
  • Please ensure dogs are kept on a leash and do not bark after curfew.
