Paris or the Bush Screening

Cordially invite members and friends to attend the Tamar Rowing Club Special screening of ‘Paris or the Bush’ The Cods were a working class rowing eight from Murray Bridge, who defeated all opposition in Australia from 1913 to 1923 to win four Kings Cups and earned the right to represent Australia at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924. The story of the Cods is connected to the Tamar Rowing Club as the coach of the Cods was Teddy Higgs, a Tasmanian who spent his early formative years rowing with the Tamar Rowing Club.

The documentary “Paris or the Bush: The Story of the Cods” was screened on Foxtel History Channel, was nominated for best screenplay at the 2017 Australian Writers Guild Awards (AWGIE) and was also screened for members at the famous Leander Club on the Thames, the spiritual home of world rowing. Producers Wayne Groom and Dr Carolyn Bilsborow will present the film.

Date: Thursday 2nd May 2019 6.30pm for 6.45pm screening

Cost: $10 for club members, $15 for non members (Includes supper at interval, refreshments will be available for purchase)
