Nationals 2016
Published Thu 24 Mar 2016
Once again Nationals have come and gone and our Tasmanian athletes have acquitted themselves well on the National stage, it was pleasing to see so many of our younger athletes competing and matching it with the mainlanders.
The Interstate Regatta saw the inclusion of Para rowing for the first time with both Alistair Chong (Bronze) and Emma Jago medaling (Silver). Due to illness Kerry was unable to compete in the women's single and on short notice "the young" Ciona Wilson stepped up and rowed above herself to come in 6th , Max McQuenney came out of the blocks hard and was well in contention in the first 1000 to finish in 5th place
The Light weight women's quad crew was changed due to the trialing of both Georgia and Ella for National Selection and Louisa Stewart and Caity Bloomfield jumped in the boat and with Eve and Annabelle to pick up a bronze, our men's crew finished in 6th place
Tasmanian boated two Youth 8's with the men's crew coming 6th and the girls finishing 4th which was equal to Tasmania's best ever results, congratulations to the crew and David Tippett.
