Lake Barrington Exclusion Zones

Published Wed 16 Jan 2019

Attention all users of Lake Barrington.

Please be aware that Hydro Tasmania have placed exclusion zones:

  1. At the northern end of the Lake near Devils Gate Dam marked with a line of Buoys and signage.
  2. At the southern end of the lake near the Cethana Dam marked by signage on the bank.

With the Devils Gate Dam currently in spill this is an area of high danger as the flow of water has the potential to take rowing shells and tinnies over the dam wall which is 84 metres high .

  • Can you ensure that your Coaches, coxswains and crews understand where the exclusion zones are?
  • At the boat ramp at Lake Barrington International Rowing Course there is a large sign showing the regulation for usage of the Lake. (as attached)
