Coaching Framework – Expressions of interest
Expressions of interest are being sought by DMCRC for Head Coaching, Lead & Support Coaching Roles across U13 to U16 Schoolgirls age groups and for U19’s and Masters age groups for the 2018/19 Rowing Season.
This document provides an outline of the Targeted Coaching & Squad Management Framework / Parameters against which coaching and squad management is considered at DMCRC.

Expressions of interest including a brief outline of relevant experience, preferred role (head, lead or support coach) along with any queries should be emailed by the 29th June 2018 to the DMCRC Secretary Trent Sayers, t.sayers@ract.com.au /Ph: 0401 993 926 or Rowing Liasion Courtney Blyth at courtney.blyth@collegiate.tas.edu.au or 6211 4911.

The DMCRC Committee is aiming to review expressions of interest and confirm coaching appointments by the end of July 2018.

PURPOSE / OVERVIEW:
• The targeted coaching framework detailed below for DMCRC seeks to outline a proposed structure within which the requirements for coaching at DMCRC are articulated.
• Coaching commitments are significant and supporting the coaching staff with the significant impost of undertaking coaching services is necessary in order to maintain the effectiveness, competitiveness and professional of the rowing program.
• The identified benefits and support are intended to be positioned as recognition of the time and effort expended in the coaching role as opposed to remuneration for the services.
• The aim of the framework with defined benefits, support and development is targeted at attracting back younger rowers, initially in support coaching roles and therefore to hopefully maintain an ongoing relationship with DMCRC.
• The head coaching role is critical in providing oversight of the coaching and development strategy and the consistency of its execution.
• Coaching selection decisions will be made in alignment with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DMCRC and the School. DMCRC will take primary accountability for the filling of coaching roles for U13’s – U16’s, U19’s & Masters and the School for the Opens coaching position. A high degree of collaboration between all parties occurs in order to ensure effective outcomes are achieved.
• The objective is to select coaches against the skills and experience criteria detailed in the Targeted Coaching & Squad Management Framework and Key Parameters detailed below. Although understandably not always practical further consideration will be given to a preferred position of minimizing any real or perceived conflicts and maximizing athlete development by not having parents coach their own children and a coach not having responsibility for the same squad for more than two to three years.
• The quantum of any honorariums, fees, discounts & reimbursements will be provided to individuals once expressions of interests are received.
• The committee will approve any honorarium, fee & reimbursement payments before they are made with consideration of the coach’s achievement of the resource and activity requirements along with adherence to the applicable policy and procedures.
• Review and feedback to coaching staff will be undertaken by the Head Coach and by a school and committee representative for the Head Coach.
*Structure and approach to Masters coaching to be agreed with Masters Rowers.
