2019 School's Pathway 8 Team announcement.

Rowing Tasmania would like to announce the 2019 School's Pathway 8 Team.

The Pathway 8's event has grown over the last several years into a major component of the Rowing Australia Junior Selection Trials with thirteen (13) girls and ten (10) boys crews competing at Penrith next week.

This competition is designed for Year 11 and 12 athletes to progress from competing for their respective schools , into then being a part of a Club and continuing on with rowing as their chosen sport.

Many are involved in this process which starts with the Winter Pathway Camp in which athletes are invited to attend based on their performances over the preceding season. The selectors take into account  winter training and the athletes results through the Pennant and School seasons, our selectors  will then extend invitation to trial and then the naming of the crews.

On behalf of Rowing Tasmania I would like to thanks the following for their involvement and support for this years campaign.

  • Neil Stump -Selector & Coaching.
  • Grant Pryor- Selector & Team Manager.
  • Courtney Blyth & Karen Jensen- Chaperones.
  • Blair Tunevitsch, Alex Thompson & Andrew Hull - Coaching
  • The Hutchins School, St Michaels Collegiate School, John Driessen, Huon Rowing Club, Tamar Rowing Club, New Norfolk Rowing Club and The Friends School for the use of their equipment and or  facilities.
  • Tasmanian Institute of Sport- transport of equipment to Penrith and return.
  • School coaches who supported the program at both the Pathway Camp and during the season.
  • The athletes and their parents.

As part of the School's Pathway 8's campaign the athletes will be attending a dinner hosted by Rowing Australia where a number of Australian representatives will be guest speakers, there will be two hundred & sixty five (265) Pathway athletes, coaches, selectors & officials in attendance.

A special thank you to Jaime Fernandez Rowing Australia's Deputy Performance Director who's passion for this event has seen it grow from humble beginnings to a major event on the rowing calendar.
